Captain Tallia has a brave heart
Book 2 Bonus Blooper

Aden looked up and saw tens of thousands of tiny white squares appear at the horizon. The navy ships were unfurling their sails. The assault had begun.

Captain Tallia drew her saber and her pistol, completely unfazed to be standing on the tip of a branch nearly a mile in the air.

"Daughters of Milia!" Captain Tallia shouted, the forest quieting itself so all could hear. "I see a whole army of my countrywomen here in defiance of tyranny. You've come to fight as free women, and free women you are. What will you do with that freedom? If you run, you will live...for a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that, for one chance, just...one...chance...to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take OUR FREEDOM!?”

A great cheer rose up from the forest. All the trees and Treesingers shouting in unison.

Tallia snickered.

“Come on Tallia,” the director coaxed. “We're losing the light, say it right.”

“Okay, I'm sorry,” Tallia apologized, waving her hand. “I'll do it right this time.”

“All right, keep rolling, we'll go from two,” the director ordered.

“Marker,” called out the sound mixer as she clacked the clapperboard then stepped back away.

Captain Tallia drew her saber and her pistol, completely unfazed to be standing on the tip of a branch nearly a mile in the air.

"Daughters of Milia!" Captain Tallia shouted, the forest quieting itself so all could hear. "Ready your breakfast and eat harty, for tonight we dine in hell!”

A great cheer rose up from the forest. All the trees and Treesingers shouting in unison.

“Gosh dang it, Tallia!” the director swore, throwing his script down.

Tallia fell to her knees, laughing so hard she dropped her pistol. “I've always wanted to do that.”

“Oh come on!” the director hollered. “I thought I was working with professionals. It costs twenty-five thousand dollars each day we have to set up this crane alongside this tree and you are just screwing around! This is madness.”

“Madness?” Tallia asked, standing up and looking serious. “Madness? This...is...SPARTA!”
